Guidelines for the Preparation of and Submission of Oration for CIRS 2026

Oration of the CIRS 2026 is a distinguished scholarly address delivered by a senior academic, drawing upon years of dedicated research and innovation in any area of specialty. It will serve as a platform not only to share accumulated scientific knowledge but also to highlight how original research can translate into meaningful solutions, novel products, and pathways for national progress. The written submission for the oration should demonstrate a substantial body of original work carried out over time, establishing the orator’s authority and expertise in the chosen field in postgraduate studies.

The CINEC oration should interpret clear, impactful messages, strategically drawing from research findings that address Sri Lanka’s economic growth and development. This may include studies on research and development (R&D) investment, innovation-driven product development, or analyses of how financial and technological advancements contribute to productivity and competitiveness. The ultimate aim of selecting the orator of the year is to demonstrate how academic members can contribute for the development of the country, identifying the burning issues and finding innovative solutions which can foster entrepreneurship and strengthen the nation’s knowledge economy.

The Orator manuscript is expected to follow a cohesive flow from beginning to end, preferably in the IMRAD (Introduction, Methodology, Results, and Discussion) format. The introduction should situate the study in its broader context, explain its relevance to national needs, highlight gaps in current knowledge or practices, and propose innovative solutions. The body should present the methods and results in a logical sequence, with emphasis on how findings have informed new ideas, technologies, or product development initiatives that can stimulate economic growth.

Finally, the conclusion should clearly articulate the broader implications of the research, its contribution to innovation and economic advancement, and outline promising future directions. Acknowledgements and funding details may be included where relevant.

The manuscript must be properly proofread by the author before submission.
