Call  for  Abstracts

We invite researchers, academics, and practitioners to submit structured abstracts aligned with the symposium’s theme “Bridging Academic Synergy for National Progress: Integrating Knowledge for Economic Transformation”. Submissions must strictly follow the guidelines detailed below to ensure a smooth and fair review process.

CIRS 2026, with the approval of the University of Queensland, is thrilled to invite all MPhit and PhD candidates to the Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition. This is a unique opportunity to step into the spotlight and present the story of your research, its purpose,, impact, and relevance in just three minutes using only one static slide.


All accepted abstracts in the tracks of Computing, Engineering and Technology, Health Sciences, Science, Marine Engineering, and Maritime Sciences will be published in the Journal of Innovation in Science, Engineering and Technology (JISET) and in the official Conference Proceedings Book of the CINEC International Research Symposium.

Dr. Bandula Wijay

World-renowned Medical Scientist, Inventor, and Entrepreneur;
Ambassador for Science, Technology, and Innovation
(Sri Lanka - Texas, USA)

Dr. Bandula Wijay is a World-renowned Inventor and Entrepreneur in the field of Biomedical Engineering, based in Houston, USA. He completed his GCE Advanced Level education at Mahinda College, Galle, and earned a BSc in Chemical Engineering from Jadavpur University, India. He later obtained his doctoral degree in the same field from the University of Southern California.

 

Dr. Wijay began his entrepreneurial journey in 1984 in collaboration with Dr. Paolo Angelini of the Texas Heart Institute, where he co-developed the angioplasty balloon catheter system and the coronary artery perfusion pump system innovations that significantly advanced interventional cardiology. In 1995, he invented the “Nested Loop” vascular stent, a landmark development in the treatment of stenotic arteries following balloon angioplasty. He holds numerous patents, and his innovations have improved the lives of millions of patients worldwide.

 

Dr. Wijay had visited the National Science Foundation (NSF), Sri Lanka, delivering an insightful lecture and engaging in an interactive discussion with university academics and scientific staff. During his visit to Sri Lanka, he was invited by several universities to share his expertise through lectures and brainstorming sessions.
